AmeriCorps

Do you want to make a difference for our lands and people? Are you ready to test yourself? MCC places small teams on diverse conservation and community projects. Serving with the MCC is a great opportunity to learn work skills, develop your leadership competencies, and hone outdoor skills. A robust work ethic is essential. In the end, it is your commitment to serving others - starting with your crew - that yields the most satisfaction, and the greatest fun.

Serving with the MCC is rewarding and always challenging. The rigors of swinging heavy hand tools will exhaust your body and tax your spirit. Working out a conflict among crew members takes personal initiative. Teaching a class before your peers requires a willingness to put yourself on the line.

If youre eager to invest yourself in a physically and personally demanding service experience, then MCC will place in your hands resources to help you improve your world and your life. This is why we call the MCC experience Tools for Life!

Youth Engaged in Service

MontanaYES (Youth Engaged in Service) is a five-week, summer volunteer service experience for teens, ages 14 to 16. MontanaYES crews complete projects similar to our field crews, but there is a greater emphasis on community projects. But like the field crews, youth crews also participate in overnight, spike service projects. Environmental education, team building and recreation are emphasized. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive a $250 service award.

The youth who serve with YES come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Participants need to complete an application, interview and be accepted into the program. Two, five-week sessions are offered back-to-back in each community with crew size limited to six youth per session.

If you are a local teen looking for a way to get involved in your community, gain skills, and have the experience of a lifetime then the YES program is right for you. Contact a Regional Office to apply this summer.
